Get It Out Of My Head!

It's Three-Sixx-D's first blog post!!! Now before I get to my actual blog post, I want to invite both students from Central and South Campus to comment on this because EVERYONE has this problem.

So, here's the actual post question. You know that one song you are constantly getting stuck in your head? Yeah, THAT one. That one you keep muttering over and over and over and over and over again. The one that no matter what you do, like listening to every other song in your library, but even after that it's STILL stuck in your head. Then you turn into Queen Elsa and start singing the song "Get It Out" instead of "Let It Go." For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, I'll attach the lyrics now:

"Get it out! Get it out! Get this song out of my head!
Get it out! Get it out! I'll sing anything else instead!"

Yeah, but the only thing that's worse than having that one song stuck in your head is when you've got that one song stuck in your head and you don't even know the actual lyrics. You start filling in the lines you don't know with the word "something" in tune to the song.

So, there's my question that I chose from my long list of things I wanted to post about. Hopefully, I'll be able to post another one before the school year is over. So, what is that one song that's always stuck in your head? Leave your responses and links to the song in the comments section below.

By the way, the song that's always stuck in my head is "This Is Gonna Hurt" by Sixx A. M. Here's the link:

  1. Don't forget to leave a link to the song so other's can listen to your song and possibly feel your pain of constantly having it stuck in their head.

  2. I have different songs that get stuck in my head a lot, but since I'm in the musical, I'm always singing a Mary Poppins song. It usually ends up being Jolly Holiday, because my name is constantly said in the song, and just about everyone in the cast sings it to me. Instead of posting a link, you should all just come see the show instead:P

    1. Lol. So you bot replied AND got some free advertising out of the comment as well. I've seen the Mary Poppins movie too many times to want to go to the show though. So sorry, I won't be going because I've seen the film one too many times. It would just be too bland. But yes, I guess that is a song that constantly get stuck in your head.

    2. I agree to your first comment! I too have various songs at any given moment in time flowing through my head.

    3. Nick, this isn't important at all but it will bother me if I don't say it, but the stage production is actually completely different from the movie. This has nothing to do with the post, but I've been involved in this musical for too long not to say it. That is all.

    4. Oh is it? Then I'm sorry I'm missing it.

    5. I guess songs that have your name in them are naturally able to hold our attention more than others.

  4. This is definitely a problem of mine! Except it's not just one song . . . . It's like a billion different ones throughout one day, usually a song in which I've just recently listened. It's constantly changing, but here's what stuck in my head now:
    Chevelle- Take Out The Gunman
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0fCzvAdR3E&list=PLR1-8kBenxxncZdFCG2JTLAYAtaVlVfne
(This is really one I need to stop humming at school)
    AND:
    Fall Out Boy- Hum Hallelujah

Also, does anyone else hear the title of a song, and, from merely that title, get it stuck in your head? This happens to me sometimes.

    1. No kidding. I sometime will just read a song title and whisper it under my breath to some random tune. But yes, sometimes, several songs will get stuck in your head. Nice to see someone can relate to that.

  5. Okay, I cracked a smile. I'd laugh at this. I think it would be quality entertainment. Lol. Noland, I want to see you dance because i think it would make me laugh.

  6. Okay, the song that I get stuck in my head is kind of lame but I get "Bet On It" from High School Musical stuck in my head all of the time.

    1. That has got to be one of the worst things to have stuck in your head. Man, so far Nick Polizzi is the only one with songs I actually consider good music. I'm not downsizing everyone else's but I really thought I'd have a lot different results.

    2. Wow, I'm getting a lot of songs I have never even heard of.

    3. Now its stuck in my head and all I know is the chorus so its even worse

  8. Blue Jeans by Lana Del Rey because Lana speaks the lyrics to my brain when I need inspiration or to keep my head up.

  9. I have to post again because my first comment was basically just an advertisement for Mary Poppins, but the song you will usually find me singing is Sherry. The first version of it that I actually heard was from the newer Jersey Boys movie. Just talking about it already has it stuck in my head. Wonderful.

  10. Haha that's what I do too! Except for I'm not too good at singing...or dancing.

  12. Songs come and go through my mind but usually never stay long. I can relate, however, to having a song or tune but you don't know the words. You can search the song because you have nothing to go off of but a hum or beat. This can really be disappointing because you need to hear that song just one more time but can't remember..

  13. Disney movies in general have a quality of catchiness that i find unique. I have on several occasions found myself waking up from a dream with a disney song on my mind. Its really strange how that works isn't it?

    1. YES! YES! YES! Finally, someone mentions Disney Movies!

  14. The song that is stuck in my head is always the song I last listened to and liked A LOT. Once I fancy a song, I play it over and over again. It is usually more common when I sing it out loud, because then I have sort of trained myself and I've gotten used to it. The music in my head is so FLEURR.
Anyway, yes. To some extent I have one song in my head, but it's always changing!
Although, in the shower I particularly sing Phantom of the Opera and "Part of Your World" form The Little Mermaid.

  15. Ok...here it goes...

I'm about to admit something that I've never admitted before in my LIFE until today. Please keep in mind that one does not have CONTROL over what gets stuck in one's mind. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is stuck.

I'm not going to tell you who or what it is because you have to listen to it. Now I know that this isn't everyone's cup of tea. Until I heard it, this song wasn't my cup of tea. But it got me. It currently has me. And I'll tell you why.(Sidenote: I put a live version of the song to validate that this girl can SANG (which, as a musician, is pretty important to me.)

1.) The content of the song has powerful meaning to me. This isn't a requirement for all songs, but in this instance it adds to the power for me.

2.) While this technically is "country," it's not that western twangy country that I like the least. If I may create a new category, or sub genre, of country music, I would call this "good country."

3.) Most importantly, for as long as I can remember, I've always been a sucker for big notes. Those large, alluring, held out, powerful notes that move you, making you want to close your eyes and sing like no one else in the world can hear (pay attention to the vocal variety at 2:45 in the song). As a musician, these are my favorite moments. I forget about myself, truly feeling like I'm suspended, elevated by the notes alone. This song, regardless of genre, does that for me. The building drums. The powerhouse notes. The pace. Yes, please.

I don't like country music. However, I do like music, and I respect artists. Therefore, I'm proud to say that I like this song.

    1. No comment except this. I have a small about of country music in my iTunes library. I don't blame you for this and you are not judged.

    2. No need to be ashamed Mr. T its just a song that you feel like has a powerful meaning. Don't be ashamed

    4. Nothing but respect for you. There should never be shame about the music you like. Like Patrick Stump, lead singer of Fall Out Boy, once said: "If you dig it, you dig it." The music that speaks to you is for a reason. And for reassure: I like Hannah Montana and I love cheesy musicals. So yes, be proud of what speaks to you!

    5. and never be ashamed to listen to music loudly in a library. Break the social norms.

    7. ^^ Yes. Listen to music in the library. Being quiet is outdated. The library is now a place if noise.

    8. Personally, I also strongly dislike country music too. However, I understand what it's like to love something that comes from something you hate. It seems illogical but sometimes you hating that thing makes the thing you like that much more inpsiring.
      This probably makes no sense.

  16. As a musician? What do you play, Mr. T? Also, no judgement-- to each their own.

  17. I just reviewed the lyrics of the song and what I got from it is that she was baptized in water and it changed her life. Her faith grew stronger and she feels better because she 'reclaimed' herself. I was wondering if it was just the voice or lyrics that made you really enjoy this song.

    1. Why did you write "no comment" ^

Mr. T said in class that he loves really strong notes, and let's face it: Carrie Underwood is the face of belted notes. She's great!

  18. Well, the song that I always have running around in my mind is kind of embarrassing. It is 'Play My Music' from the Disney movie Camp rock. I'm not sure what it is about that song that makes it stick in my head like a sticky piece of gum. However, I don't necessarily mind when it randomly comes into my thoughts. I guess for me it's sort of like a happy place. The song brings grew t energy so maybe that's why it's always stuck in my head.
Here it is if you really want to listen to it.

  20. I always get songs stuck in my head, whether it is there consciously or not. Usually, it is songs that were the first one I heard that day. Other times, it is just another new song that came from my favorite singer or band. Currently, I have many songs from the musical "Mary Poppins" because of playing the songs many times. I always have a catchy song in my head for at least a day or two.

  21. That is exactly how I get songs out of my head! Usually if I have one stuck in there I have to play the song and sing it and then it goes away.

  22. One song that I always find stuck in my head or catch myself humming while doing the dishes is Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. Yes Torres, the wedding song of the year. Ususally if a song is stuck in my head it really bothers me but it is different with that. I have probably heard it 300 times but I still dont mind when I get it stuck in my head. Just in case any of you haven't heard the wedding song of the year, here is the link.
