Perception

Per•cep•tion-
A way of regarding, understanding, or interpreting something; a mental impression.

In writing, especially creative writing, one piece of writing can be interpreted in many different ways by both the writer and the reader. It all depends on you. Let's see how each of us perceives things.
What do you see in the three pictures below?

What about the following photo? Write a one sentence story using the below photo. There's an endless amounts of creativity and ways to see the photo.

First Love

Love. Ah love, that's what I want to talk about. Now you might not agree with what I think, but that's what I want to know. Now I have come across many people who don't think it's possible to be in love as a teenager. Personally I have already met my first love, when I was 15. I will say this the rest of my life, now he might not be my last love but he was my first. I know what a crush is, trust me I've had plenty of those as well. But this was different, it wasn't a crush it was way more than that, no we might not have dated because of bad timing but I don't believe that makes my feelings any less real. Now I have even stumbled across teenager who also feel like it isn't possible to be in love at our age. So I ask you guys as fellow teenagers what do you think about love, is it restricted by age?

Cool Website and Poetry Slam

I just stumbled across this, it offers poetry scholarships and seems like a cool community.

http://www.powerpoetry.org/

Actually while on the topic of poetry, I'm throwing in a plug for the Book Club. We'll be holding our poetry slam on March 24th, so please clear your calendars! George Miller will be there, and he's an INCREDIBLE old man. It's a place to hear and share poetry, and this opportunity is at risk! Without funding, we may lose this awesome event, so please bring a couple extra bucks to buy some snacks while you're there to help support the event. I know there are a ton of really amazing poets here, and it'd be a great opportunity to get out there. Remember, you don't need to read your poem just because you attend. If you get scared, don't stress yourself out, but if you get inspired, we're all ears! Sorry this ended up becoming a commercial, but I've been to this thing for three years and it gets better every time, it would mean so much if you attended!

Adapting to chaos

This is a passage from Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions:
"As I approached my fiftieth birthday, I had become more and more enraged and mystified by the idiot decisions made by my countrymen. And then I had come suddenly to pity them, for I understood how innocent and natural it was for them to behave so abominably, and with such abominable results: They were doing their best to live like people invented in story books. This was the reason Americans shot each other so often: It was a convenient literary device for ending short stories and books.
Why were so many Americans treated by their government as though their lives were as disposable as paper facial tis-sues? Because that was the way authors customarily treated bit-part players in their made-up tales.
And so on.Once I understood what was making America such a dangerous, unhappy nation of people who had nothing to do with real life, I resolved to shun storytelling. I would write about life. Every person would be exactly as important as any other. All facts would also be given equal weightiness. Nothing would be left out. Let others bring order to chaos. I would bring chaos to order, instead, which I think I have done. If all writers would do that, then perhaps citizens not in the literary trades will understand that there is no order in the world around us, that we must adapt ourselves to the requirements of chaos instead. It is hard to adapt to chaos, but it can be done. I am living proof of that: It can be done."

Do you agree with his philosophy and idea of storytelling?
