... Thoughts???
(I'm sorry that this post is so short, but I had already in mind what I wanted to do, and this was it.)
I'm going to ADD to this post (I hope Emily doesn't mind). Along with posting thoughts about these profound quotes, I want to invite all of your to post an ORIGINAL quote. Come up with a quippy, deep, life-changing nugget of knowledge that is a bona fide you-quote.
ReplyDeleteI have to confess that I write my own quotes often; I'm kind of a dork (spoiler alert). I write them down all of the time, and my wife always makes fun of me. Here's one to start off with:
"Low expectations yield low inclinations" ~Torres
"Writing is like a mirror. Everytime someone reads someone else's work, what they 'interperet' it as is showing how the reader truly is on the inside." ~ Emily
ReplyDeleteI never really thought about it like that, but you are right. There are so many different ways a story can be interpreted, and each person, depending on who and what they are like, can interpret it in a completely different way than the person sitting next o them.
DeleteWe will never know ourselves untill we take a risk and dive deep within the unknown. ~maria
ReplyDeleteI love it!
We can never be ourselves if we do what our friends, family, and people on tv,sometimes even the voices in our heads, sometimes, wants us to do. You can listen to your conscious though, but you have to follow your heart to be who you really want to be.
ReplyDeleteI it feels like your head is floating in the clouds, follow it! It might lead you somewhere better than where you are at in the moment because if t was a good place, your head wouldn't be in the clouds.
"Thinkers think and doers do...."
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoy this quote. I love its meaning and confusion, as well as the entertainment value it brings when I read it.
I also enjoy these quotes:
"It's a cosmic joke that I'm a lesbian, because I understand men so well, but women are a complete mystery to me." ~Unknown
"I rock a, law suit when I'm going to court a, white suit when I'm getting divorced a, black suit at the funeral home and my birthday suit when I'm home alone." ~I Just Wanna Live by Good Charlotte
I could not possibly list all of my favorite quotes that I have said. Pulling a vain, hypocritical move here, I believe that some of the things I say and write are quote worthy.
"You must first learn to love yourself before learning to love someone else."
"There are many things we know are wrong, and yet that doesn't prevent the thought from appearing time and time again."
"People tend not to think of nothing, as thinking of nothing would instigate thinkings of something, which people also do not want to do, as it tends to cause madness."
~Mandy
Life is like a giant jigsaw puzzle, you have to try to make all the pieces fit to see the bigger picture ~juju
ReplyDeleteThis quote is absolutely true. I think it's only a matter of time before everyone figures this out in their lives. Thank you for sharing this, as Mr. Torres put it, "nugget of knowledge." It is quite insightful.
DeleteI really enjoyed reading this post. It was very well written and captured my attention well. The first quote was completely true, life's what you make it out to be.
ReplyDelete"Sleep is a break from the everyday fight that is life" ~Brandon
I thoroughly enjoy this quote, as I have come to realize that I live it often. Almost half of my days up to this point, I have yearned for my bed come ten o'clock. About an eighth of my days, it's one of the only things I truly look forward to in my day, as it really is my escape from dealing with everything. Very well done.
DeleteI get those days too haha. Lately. about once a week, I come home from school and just fall asleep.
DeleteI'm not creative to come up with my own quote so heres another on " Age is something thing that doesn't matter unless your cheese" Billie Burk
ReplyDeleteI thought this quote was so funny so i had to post it.
I think that quote is hillarious
DeleteAlthough I failed at finding a typed version of this quote, PLEASE look up "the nothing box" by Mark Gungor. It is one of the most meaningful and hilarious quotes/speeches I have EVER heard in my LIFE!!!
ReplyDelete"If you want to fight racism, you have to fight negativity. The world can't be a rainbow if everyone's blue." -Andra
ReplyDeleteYes. I did just take rainbows and make them inspirational!
Thoughts are quite powerful and I think they are the basis for great ideas. Without someone thinking about an idea it would never come to fruition. With that being said I will now contradict myself and say that thoughts are overrated. Some situations involve reacting on impulse and these are the times I truly get a feel for someone's character. I am sitting on the floor in Mr. T's room completely over-thinking this post.
ReplyDelete"Be lazy and be yourself. It takes way too much energy to try and copy an original." - Krystal
One of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou and its "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain." Its awesome and totally describes my lifestyle!!
ReplyDeleteThe only quote that really itched my brain was the one by the buddha. It had never really occurred to me how true that statement is. What we learn today will shape us for tomorrow. Everyday we take in more and more information and it's just fascinating how we have the ability to shape it into our own person. I hope to be more aware of that from now on. There' a quote that I've always carried with me. I can't remember if I had gotten it somewhere or not but it is something that is argued as to whether or not it is wrong In a way I've always seen it as truth.
ReplyDelete"There is no such thing a coincidence, only inevitability"
i thought about the quote you put the entire weekend and it is so true! i love that quote
DeleteAre these quotes really all original?! THEY'RE AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteSorry I am so late to put this up here. These quotes are... interesting. As far as coming up with an original? That's difficult without creating an entire story to go along with it.... "What can I say that hasn't already been said? When all the damage is not in our heads? What can I say that will mean anything? When the damage is done and we're all sinking? What can I say when it's all, all gone? Pray that it helps when I sing you this song." (Sorry, I told you it wouldn't be pretty)
ReplyDeleteI think these quotes are actually all very insightful. They all share a similar story while spinning the web in different ways. I think it is a very good selection of quotes. Thank you for posting, Emily. :D
You're welcome. And yeah, the idea was that they are all connected, I was kind of waiting for someone to metion that.
DeleteI love all of these quotes. I also like that this is basically a free-write trend even though we are focusing on the quotes. To me its basically a 'Free-write' becuase of the fact that you can interpet a quote in any way you want to. You only asked us on thing and that was "thoughts?" but it will keep me thinking for a week because of everything these quotes can mean.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. I was actually thinking the same exact thing.(:
Delete"If you take life seriously, life will take you as a joke"
ReplyDeleteThis is my original quote. I do not mean that the encounters and obstacles that we meet in life should be taken lightly; instead, we should not let these occurrences shape our view of the world in a negative way. Once we begin to over-analyze these matters, our perceptions are ironically weakened and we suddenly become caught up in the superficial. To receive the greatest fulfillment from life, we cannot continually dwell on the seriousness. If we do, we lose sight of a greater purpose in life: happiness.
Haha i like it.
DeleteThis post reminds me of the song, "I Don't Want To Be" by Gavin McGraw. Some of the quotes posted talk about just being yourself. In the song, the singer sings about how he doesn't want to change because he likes who he is. I think that that's very important in our society today. Many people don't like who they are, but I think that you have no capability to love if you don't love yourself first.
