I Forgot My Phone

I was shown this video a few months ago, and I actually think about it all the time. Everybody is always so absorbed in their phones that they totally forget to live through and enjoy the moments that they try so hard to document and remember. What do you guys think about this video? Do you do this? Or are you the person who feels like everyone around you pays more attention to their phones than life? And even though this is how life is now, do you think we can change it and go back to enjoying simple everyday joys without snapping a picture?

  1. I totally agree with what this video is showing. I didn't get a phone until two years ago, and I 'm so happy I didn't get one until then. I lived most of my life without a phone and it's amazing! I can't imagine giving my 7 yr old a phone. I think people should challenge themselves to try and not use their phones when they're with friends, at least.

  2. It's really sad watching this, but interesting at the same time. Smart phones are meant to maybe check on the news or text friends occasionally, not to have your face buried in it 24/7. I also think it's interesting in the sense that forgetting your phone is a "bad" thing, when really I see it as a good thing because it forces you to actually observe the world.

  3. Even though I have my phone I always look at this and then if I think "oh that's cool" or something then I will take out my phone and take a picture. My parents are very strict about keeping our phones in our pockets and away when we are out to dinner or anywhere. But the amount of people you see with their phones out 24/7 is ridiculous.

  4. All of this is so true and it's a little disappointing. People are attached to their phones too much. Whether it's obsessively checking social media or just playing a game, it's ridiculous. Phones were meant to connect us, to bring us closer. It's ironic that today they're actually alienating us and making us somewhat antisocial.

  5. This video's portrayal is definitely accurate, and as many of you have stated, quite sad. We live in a digital world and we often forget to look up and enjoy the physical world. The technology that we have now is a truly incredible thing but we need to remember to enjoy life first.

  6. I feel like now a day many people have phone and always take picture. I feel like it not the right thing to do all the time because you don't alway have to have a picture of that and it may truly not be the right place or time to do it. So I would have to say I agree

  7. I feel that people have this thought in their head that in order to capture memories, they will take a picture or video when in reality, all you have to do is live in the moment to remember something special

  8. As I sit here, typing this on my phone, I realized how dependent we really are. It's sad. Ask your parents, they'll tell you that they lived for so many years with out cell phones, and they survived. I wish we didn't live in a society that was so obsessed with boxes of technology. And I really hope my kids aren't the same. Which is weird?

  9. I think almost everyone knows that they're attached to their phone. But nobody is willing to give it up. We're all connected by our phones, so if we ever lost them, we wouldn't know what to do.

  10. Yes I think everyone is attached to there phone a bit more then we all should be but if we didn't have our phones we wouldn't have pictures of good times and or memories. We need our phones for some things, without them some of us would probably never talk. This world is addicted to their phones but in a way we do need them.

  11. I think people are way too absorbed into their phones. It's frustrating when you're trying to have a conversation with someone but they're too engrossed in their phone to even make sense of what you said to them. But, I don't see people completely giving up their phones for a really long time.

  12. I don't like to spend much time on my phone. However, I do appreciate the fact that I have one. I also appreciate that it takes pictures. I don't like trying to document every moment, but I do think it's important to document some.

  14. Often times I find that in intense moments I keep my phone away. Yet when I'm in uncomfortable or awkward situations I take my phone out more than I would like to admit.

  15. I feel like some people live in there phones and they are to busy trying to captures memories rather than making them and its so sad. Trust me I love to take pictures and capturing moments but pictures can be erased and lost. But my memories I will have forever and I will forever cherish them.

  16. Personally,I have no problem with the new age of technology. To me, it's a new way of communicating. I can now speak and see my grandma that lives about a day and a half away by car. Yes is can be annoying, and I agree that there is a time and a place. But I wouldn't change the fact that we have phones available to us just because people use them to take 'selfies' and talk to others.

  18. Phones have so many benefits but I think we kind of misuse them. Our phones have become our lives when they're just supposed to make life easier.

  19. I honestly find myself doing this depending on the people who I'm with. Some people I go do things with and enjoy time without electronic devices. With others however if I'm not as invested in the friendship I find myself on my phone more.

  20. When I first got my phone, I realized that I don't really need one. I only use my phone for music and this blog. Sometimes I don't think having a phone is a necessity.
