Poetry

Poetry isn’t an escape for me
my head is always filled with words.
You see, writers block is a vacation,
dead pens a medication,
sleep, an endless prescription.
If only the tables were turned.
Where poetry is a safe haven,
my head, always filled with inspiration.
It flows out of me and into you, see?
Writers block is torture,
dead pens an infuriation,
sleep, and endless oblivion.
A place where I can speak and be,
just me,
heard for who I am.
A place where I can think and know,
who I really am.
Passion,
flowing through my veins,
of music, writing, and love.
Instead my veins or filled with
questions, confusion, and sadness.

When will I find an escape from this madness?

  1. I love this, you took a different stance on how writer's block is seen, at first. it is a really good poem.

  3. I really love the why you said things about being a writer how it could be fun if it's just to yourself, but writing out to the world can be very questionable, confusing, and sad to some people when they first write something that's going to be shown to others.

  4. I can relate to this poem a lot, because I know what it feels when you need to have certain words but they won't come to you.

  6. Snap snap snap!
You did a great job of showing not telling, and it added a lot of strong voice to your poem. I can agree, I have had a hard time creating a work

  7. I love the realness of this poem. I can relate to it completely. Too often there's a certain way I want to say something but I don't know how and it's frustrating.

  10. I truly love this. It make me just want to keep reading it over and over just because a lot of it is true and we all had to deal with it.

  11. I really like this because it extends the definition of writers block and what its like to go through the agitation.

  14. I love how this explains these feelings so real and that anyone who loves to write or just writes a lot knows how this feels.

  15. In my mind, it's like a reverse poem. Everyone thinks that a poem has to be written with emotion and some deep meaning. A lot of people look towards poems as an escape, but it's really just a temporary fix. Others need something to physically happen to help them truly "escape".
