This is really deep. It has no hidden meaning behind it, but the straight forwardness of it is so powerful.

ReplyDeleteI think that this is a problem for many people and there is so much meaning behind this. It seems like now more and more parents have problems with the people their children are dating.
ReplyDeleteA parents opinion can make or break most decisions in a persons life. They are the people we grow up with and learn from. When they have opinions that go against ours it can be one of the most conflicting things someone goes through. Now this isn't the case for everyone obviously but parents have a huge influence is a persons life. The thing about this poem is I feel bad for the person who has a forbidden love but I also keep wondering if the parents are right?
ReplyDeleteI really agree to how a parents opinion can make or break most decisions in a persons life especially when it comes to love because thats a big thing in anyone's life. If you listen to them then you could have just closed the door on "the one" and if you go against them? no one knows because most people don't take that step. This poem also remind me of Romeo and Juliet.
DeleteI myself am a firm believer that parents see fake friends quicker than we do, same goes for relationships. People are always telling their parents they don't know what's good for them but they have in fact gone through the things that we fight with them on, and are only trying to do what is best.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. I've had my parents look at one of my 'friends' and say, you two aren't that close, are you? And they'd be completely right. They can always tell when my friends won't be there for the long haul.

ReplyDeleteBut on a serious note, sooner or later, young romance fades. I think parents disapprove so much of these relationships because they don't want their child to be hurt by some kid they can clearly see is not good enough for their own kid.
People can say all they want about what they think, and yet, even if they are right, it won't truly matter unless the person realizes it. You can input control, and most of the time the outcome will not be as positive.

ReplyDeleteParents like to focus on what can/can't hurt their beloved children, but the fact is, they have to have the experience themselves to ever learn from it. Whether they get hurt, or they do the hurting, the only way to learn from it, is to do it. Your parents love you and only want to protect you. Would you rather have them care a lot, or not care at all?

ReplyDeleteThis is a really relatable piece that most kids today go through. It's really deep and i feel like parents want you to believe that they want whats best for you because in truth, they're scared to watch their children grow up.
