So I was told to not do this blog post because "no one would care about it." However, I'd like to prove that person wrong. I don't talk much in class. I don't always participate in group discussions, and most of you probably know nothing about me. So, I'm going to share a huge part of my life with you, and that thing is band. I've been in band for 8 years, and I'd like to continue with it for as long as I can. Now, here's a link to a song called "Watchman, Tell us of the Night" that I'm actually playing in band currently. Here's the thing: It is 15 minutes long. Now you may be saying, "I'm too busy, I don't have time for that!" However, I urge you to take 15 minutes out of your life and just listen. Do it while you do homework, for instance. I guess I could be asking you to test your patience, when you do something that you may not want to do. I get it; it's a long time to listen to a song. But there will be so many more situations in the future in which you have to be patient, and they will be on a much larger scale. So all I ask of you is to listen to this song, and just comment on what you felt about it. Sure, some of you might skim through to say you listened to it, but by doing that, you could be missing out on something more powerful than you think.
The journal today is what got me thinking about this post. Not many can relate to this song, for it is actually about child abuse. But this emotional rollercoaster of a song is worth the listen.I hope you listen, I really do.

ReplyDeleteSo I just finished this peice, and I must say, I've never really been one for band style music but I've always respected the skill and hard work playing in a band requires, but this was amazing <3 opened my world do you have any other pieces you would suggest? thanks for sharing this with me really!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked it! Also I was the one who said "good job Tim!" After guitar studio played and you just kept walking haha
DeleteLol I said thank you!! I wished I coulda stayed for the other performances but my parents rushed me out :(
DeleteHi Noland.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that hard to take away 15 minutes. I mean, I've listened to longer songs. And it's not that bad. But it's still not just my style.
ReplyDeleteAnd I can respect that
DeleteI really liked the kind of eerie tone that was held in the beginning. It intrigued me and made me want to listen more.
ReplyDeletei am truly glad that i listened to the song in its entirety. it was very powerful in that it had several high points and several low points. The song really makes me think of a battle between two great forces. Idk why though...
