Reincarnation

Many religions believe the process called reincarnation. Reincarnation is the religious or philosophical concept that the soul or spirit, after biological death, can begin a new life in a new body.

I have two questions you may choose from to respond to, or even both!
1. What are your thoughts on reincarnation?
2. If you were reincarnated, what would you want to be reincarnated as and why?

  1. The process and concept of reincarnation is such an intriguing one. It offers up a sense of reassurance that a new life is waiting just around the corner from the one you lead now. I can not say with certainty that I believe in the theory, however. I am cynical towards any theories of what happens after death, for the sheer fact that, well, no one knows what happens after death. I think it's a beautiful thought to think that your loved one is present in the flowers outside your front door, or that your pet might actually be someone you knew and loved. The phenomena of deja vu poses the question of it's truth though. Why do we have glimpses of a life or circumstance that we have never lived? Why does it feel as if you have lived something like this before? How is it possible unless, well, unless you have lived it before? As for being reincarnate myself, I feel a pull towards wanting to be a plant for some reason that I can't really explain. I feel the experience would be a lot of fun and super relaxed, not that I, as a flower or plant of some sort would be aware of it at the time.

  2. I never gave thought to it, really. I don't understand the process enough. But if I could be reincarnated as a cat (as silly as it sounds) or simply someone else's body. I want to see what it's like in a different life and how it's different from my body. Sorry this is so short.

  3. The thought of death is the scariest thing in the world for me. Mostly because its completely out of your hands but also because we have no clue what will happen. When I was younger I firmly believed in reincarnation because it brought me comfort thinking that at the end of my life there will be another one waiting for me. I like to joke because the poet Shel Silverstein died the moment I was born (crazy right??) But I still like to think that maybe when I die I can experience many different lives. Because we don't know if it is real or not, I feel like people keep it in their minds to ease the painful thought of death.

  4. Although I don't really believe in reincarnation, I do enjoy thinking about what it would be like if I were a different living thing. It is great to imagine what could be ahead of the life we have now. Will it be better? If I were to choose what I would reincarnate into, I would choose a dog. It would definitely be a different experience. They always put me in a great mood and I would like to do the same.

  5. I believe in the philosophy of Buddhism, and was raised in a Catholic house so i have mixed feelings. It'd explain so much, plus it'd be really cool. I'd wanna be a bird, like a sparrow or a pelican, birds are cool.

  6. To be honest I believe anything is possible, but it has never been proven so I really don't know how to feel about it. It would be cool, like one lifetime you are a worm and the next a human. I just have mixed emotions on it. If I could be anything I would want to be a cat, just a house cat.

  7. I don't believe in reincarnation. I'd like to, but I don't see how a soul can reappear in another life. Once you die, it'd be the end of your soul (unless you come back as a spirit). I think it'd be cool to come back into another life, after knowing what comes after death.

If I were to reincarnate, I would want to come back as another human. I would cheaply take a second chance at life and make all the better decisions I should have made the first time

  8. I think it's just as likely that reincarnation exists as it is likely that nothingness exists after death. The concept is so vast that I could probably go on forever about that stuff. If that happens to be how we end, I'd want to be a tortoise. I don't even really know why, I just think it would be really cool.

  9. I've always been been curious and so interested in the fact of reincarnation. My mind always thinks about it, the reassuring feeling of when you die, knowing its not fully over, that somehow that if you mess up this life you always have a second chance to make your second one better. There was a time a long time ago, when my sister and I were really intrigued by the idea of reincarnation and did a lot of research and stuff on it and found out really interesting facts and stories about people believed to have been reincarnated. So the idea of it all to me is really believable and if i were to be reincarnated as something I'd love to be reincarnated as a human. my reasoning for this is that I'd want to try out a different lifestyle, sadly you most likely don't remember your past lives but if you were two compare the two, I'd wonder how diverse they could really be.

  10. I have actually thought about this, I don't know if reincarnation is true or not. I mean occasionally I do think that people come back if they want to, but it's a mystery to me. My grandma and mom used to tell me that if I threw out my food, God would send me back as a pig to eat my own garbage. That had scared me a little, but it seems sincere. Maybe you can come back if you want to, it's hard to actually know. But if I were able to come back I would probably come back as a dog or something, don't know.

  11. Interestingly enough, I've actually started writing a story about reincarnation, but I ended up scrapping it, because it became too convoluted. I don't know if I actually believe in reincarnation, but I am intrigued by it. It's a very interesting concept, and sometimes I find my mind lingering on the idea that maybe it could be real. If I was reincarnated as something, I would be a horse, because they're my favorite animal. Plus, I want to be as fast as one.

  12. I think that the concept of reincarnation is so interesting, and I think for some people it gives them hope that they'll get another chance in the world. I think that if I was to be reincarnated I would want to be a cat or dog. Both of these animals are so loved and appreciated. Also there's the saying that cats have 9 lives so that's cool.

  13. I've never given the concept enough thought, but if I ever did consider it, I think I'd want to be turned jnto another body. Id love to live life completely differently than I already have, to have new experiences and something out of my comfort zone now. I think it could be so interesting

  14. Reincarnation is a pretty heavy topic for many religions. In Hinduism, many people wish to be reincarnated into a rat because that's their most holy animal, use the rat temple for example(if you haven't seen it, look it up!) But I dan't say I believe i reincarnation due to the fact that I really don't know much about.

  15. I want to know what YOU think about reincarnation?? This is a super interesting topic for a Freshman to post about. I'm curious to know where this came from and what your answer is.

Personally, I don't believe in reincarnation. Do we, as humans, want to believe in reincarnation because of fear the unknown? I don't want to fabricate truth out of fear. I also do see the purpose of reincarnation without awareness; with my little understanding of the topic, it seems like a broken cycle. Or not a cycle at all, really, if you don't know that you're being cycled or you don't know what you knew last time for the sake of progress. Hhhmmm....

    1. I've been contemplating reincarnation for awhile, it's stood out as very interesting to me. I can't say if it's real, but it's comforting to think that you've been able to experience the world before, and may experience it again. I very much wanted to see other people's thoughts and opinions on it.

  16. Actually I am answering neither question but instead relaying a story.
I was once at GoodWill (Yeah, I love to go thrift shopping) when a lady said something to me that made me go home and think about overnight. It was almost halloween, and at the time I didn't have any plans so I thought I could find a goofy outfit at GoodWill just for fun. My eye caught something. There it was: a beautiful dress. It was flamenco-style or maybe even opera-style. Either way, it was super cool and I found myself dashing for the dressing rooms. It turns out the dress was unwearable because the zipper was stuck, but as I was walking out, a woman over heard me telling my sister to try and fix the zipper, and the woman listened as I told my sister how beautiful the dress really was. She stopped shifting through the clothes on the rack, turned to us, and said to me, "that's because you've worn it in another life." I've never once thought about reincarnation, but the rush of excitement that came with those eight words was enough to get my imagination into gear. I envisioned myself on a stage in the spotlight, holding a single note at the conclusion of an opera song, the crowd roaring. (I love opera if you can't tell). Maybe what the woman said was true, or maybe she's just nuts. Either way I didn't have the chance to ask her. She was gone when I turned around. I was left to my imagination

  17. I don't know much about reincarnation but I personally don't believe in it. I believe in something else. I feel like when we pass away our spirits go else where not reused.

  18. If I were to be reincarnated I think I would like to be another human. Potentially I could live this life the exact opposite way of how I lived my previous life. I don't know if any of that made sense but I think the whole concept is really cool.
