Beauty is different for everyone. There is natural beauty, beauty from within, and shallow beauty. Natural beauty is the one that no one ever really seems to notice because most human beings don't really take a second to look around. Haven't we all heard the saying "stop and smell the roses?" Well, we don't always do that do we? I know that there have been moments where I have been either too focused on myself or on others where I don't just stop and take a second to really take in all that natural beauty. Almost all of us can say this has happened to us before. We go on a vacation to a new place and we are to focused on our problems to really look out the window and see what it going on. Beauty is all around us and yet we still don't take a mere second to just see. Beauty can be anything. It could be that random person walking down the street walking his dog. It could be that snow covered bush outside of your house. It can be anything.
I know I am going to get a bunch of groans out of this one, but winter is even beautiful, especially after the first snowfall. However, it is March and we are still getting snow, and most are now sick and tired of it. How can we get tired of beauty when it is supposed to be timeless?

As humans, we are never happy. In "The Life of Pi," a fantastic book, the narrator explains this phenomenon. He states that if one were on a beach and looking at calm waters, one might wish for the waters to stir to entertain him, and when the waters are rough and a storm brews, one will wish for the waters to be calm once again. Beauty is the same sort of idea. Snow is wonderful at first, but we grow tired of it and crave summer. Then, once summer rolls in, we only wish for snow to soften the sweltering heat. It's a vicious cycle, really.
ReplyDeleteWell too much of a good thing can become old eventually. We constantly want more...but once we have had too much of it then we don't have an interest in it anymore
ReplyDeleteI think it's about the perspective and the attitude you have towards something. If you look at it with open eyes and a great attitude, then anything and everything will be beautiful. You have to let your mind see the beauty and not just the things that ruin it.
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on where you are at in life. If you are depressed and tired looking at these pictures could just seem useless and boring. Or maybe these pictures can be an eye opener to make you realize you were given a gift. That gift is life and being here on this beautiful planet. I really do think it can be very hard for us to recognize beauty anymore, but when and if you do it can be mind blowing.
ReplyDeleteYes the world is beautiful and no one really appreciates it, but some people just cannot see the beauty. Many people go through so much stress trying to live up to society's standards and it makes them become more focused on what is going on to them at that moment rather than looking up and seeing the beautiful world we live in.
ReplyDeleteI love looking out onto the dead cornfields frosted in snow. When the horizon looks as if the ground is kissing the sky. Snow blankets the cruelty of humanity. Snow is mother nature fighting back for her home. I don't know if I want the snow to leave
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things out in the world that can be considered beautiful: a painted sunset over a snow covered mountain, the first rain atop a fresh spring daisy, the possibilities really being endless. Everything is equally beautiful; no one thing being greater than another.
ReplyDeletethe sky.
ReplyDelete"and the sea is just a wetter version of the sky"
not many (that i have met) hate the sky. it creates whimsical tales. it doesn't have to apply to you. not at all. a forever reminder of beauty.
"Has the sky committed a sin? if so, tell us at once, we need not see such blasphemy again. what does the sky provide for me? nothing but bruising cold and hindrance of growing life sprouting from the soil."
that, is ... slightly like hate. but, a prolonged one? eternal? nope, not a chance
We see beauty everywhere around us, beauty appears before us when the first rays of day break shine through your window and touch your face. Or when we see a caring mother playing with her infant child in the park on a sunny day. We all see beauty in different ways and everyone is beautiful doesn't matter how you look at that person. All that matters is what you as an individual see that is truly beautiful in the world around us.
ReplyDeleteI believe everything in the planet has beauty in some way shape or form, but not everyone can see it. Each individual person sees differently and notices the true beauty in specific things, but not all.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I believe that some notice more beauty, while others do not, and/or that some notice little to nothing that is beautiful at all throughout their lives, while others notice everything.
DeleteIf people only see what they want, how come everything isn't beautiful? It goes back to the idea that we want to want things. We want to desire things that we don't have just so that we know there is something to strive for, even if its something we can't change. Its part of who we are. In the winter a lot of people say they don't like the cold and the snow, but mid-summer they wish for the cold air and the white blanket.
ReplyDeleteI think that everyone sees beauty in there own way and everyone may not see it but everyone knows that there is beauty and that beauty will never go way even if we try to change it.
ReplyDeleteI think the fact that you simply being honored with the gift of life and being able to experience even little everyday things makes anything and everything around us beautiful, especially with how everything is interconnected and works with each other
ReplyDeletei want to see the northern lights more than anything! its like number one on my bucket list!
ReplyDeleteI think those pictures were beautiful. But I think we tend to forget to find beauty or look for it in less obvious places. Yes, it is a vicious cycle, but we have so many things that deserve attention. I think beauty is my little brother coming in the house all muddy or watching an athlete run a race. Sometimes I even think some of the ugliest things are pretty. But that kind of refers back to our journal we had a few weeks ago. We can get tired of beauty, but it's because we forget to look for it.
ReplyDeleteThe beauty in almost everything can be breathtaking, but there also could be danger that lies within the beauty. I suppose we also never are satisfied and we could always use more than what we need.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why exactly people get tired of beauty at times. I think it could be though that beauty is almost completely perfect. As humans we are taught at a young age that no one and nothing is perfect. I think that beauty is perhaps the closest anything can ever get to being perfect, although it may have some flaws. But I think that with the way beauty is and the way our minds are we can't completely comprehend it and we turn to something else that we can. Although not being able to understand it in its entirety may be the ring that makes it as beautiful as it really is.
ReplyDeleteOf course, beauty will always be timeless. However, in the case of winter, humans can only take so much of it's beauty. I love my good share of winter, but with all this white that we've gotten, it's easy to get really sick of it really fast. I think we all just need spring again, and when winter comes again, we'll all be ready to praise winter's true beauty once more.
ReplyDeleteI Think That Every Season Runs Its Course. Every Season Has Its Own Intentions & They See To It.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, too much of a good thing can end up being a bad thing. Take your friends for example, or siblings. Yes you love them but there comes a point where you have spend too much time with them and you start to argue. That's when the beauty gets ugly.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about perspective, some people might think an abandoned building is scary/ boring, but to me it's beautiful
